Isaac's Story This is our baby Isaac Samuel he is now four and half yrs old. Makes you go all gooee this photo hey? A community worker brought him & his mum to our gate. Isaac was only 15 days old, his mum has eight other boys & did not want him. Isaac didn’t even have a name when he came to us. Mummy Ruth prayed about a name and God gave her Isaac Samuel. Two little boys in the bible who grew up to be great men of God. Isaac is so small we can’t even find clothes small enough to fit him. Ruth can carry him cradled in one arm. We know this little boy is a gift from God. Ruth was given the bible verse for Isaac meaning “promised one”. He is a peaceful little baby and all our children love him and want to be around him. Thank-you Lord for our promised one , another child that we can love & care for & bring up in God’s ways. We pray we are privileged to have him until he is a grown man.

Peter's Story                                                    On the 3rd March 2011 a knock was hear at the doors of Love in Action where mumma Ruth lives and runs the babies nursery. A woman holding a tiny baby asked mumma Ruth if she would take him in. He was three weeks old. His mother had come a full day's travel from Siam Reap to our homes in Phnom Pehn. She left her husband and abandoned her other son and daughter taking the tiny baby with her. She was unable to to cope with him and that's when she surrendered him to us knowing that if he would be cared for and loved at LIA. He had no name, so when Ruthie looked at him she realized that if he could survive being abandoned by his own mother that he would be strong enough to survive what life would hand out to him, so she called him Peter after the strong man, Peter (the Rock), of bible history. Ruthie saw the potential in him that his mother could not see and the future now was brighter for him. Peter is the third baby that has come to LIA over a five week period, so as you can imagine our nursery is becoming continually a place of safety for abandoned babies. But we are never full as our policy at Love in Action is there's always room for one more baby at child at risk.

Adam's Story

He was born into the world naked, screaming and in great need of a mother's love. His little nose was still filled with pre birth fluid, he was dirty and tears stained his tiny face with signs of rejection. He is an innocent little boy, just a statistic, a number in a nation that is still trying to fight its way back to sanity from a cruel and evil dictator that once ruled Cambodia. He was unwanted, unloved, unnamed and abandoned. He was left to the mercy of the elements or even worse, the child slavers and kidnappers. For two days he lay crying in a shanty that his mother and siblings had occupied before he came along. She saw no need to keep him: she had seven other children to care for, why worry about this one. One day they packed up their belongings, walked out the door and left him behind. A neighbour heard his cries and took pity on him but she could hardly care for him because she was so poor herself. Her son who is known to our older children at LIA asked mumma Ruth if he could bring the child to her. The vision of Love in Action Cambodia is to care for the poor, needy, widows, orphaned, sick and the abandoned and this is just what we have done with this tiny baby. Ruth and Tracey sought the Lord as to what they should name this child. With Ruth in Cambodia and Tracey in Australia, He gave them both the same name, Adam Caleb. Adam means man and Caleb means faithful and we call him our man of God, loyal, faithful and true. Adam Caleb Golder is now six weeks old. He has been under the care of the local doctor and is in good health. Despite his harsh beginnings he is now flourishing under the ever watchful eye of his new mother.....mumma Ruth!! He has almost ninety brothers and sisters and each child has their own story to tell of how they came to be in care at our homes at LIA. An important part of the call on Ruth's life is to give each newborn that comes into our homes, the love and attention that children from all nations and all walks of life deserve. She responds to each one with affection and motherly love that comes to symbolise who she is. Without her many of these beautiful children would be lost to slavery and prostitution. We at LIA commit ourselves to the welfare of the children that God has given into our care. The need is great but our God is greater. The future is bright now for Adam our mighty man of God.

Hock’s Story                                                    Hock is one of our children that came to LIA when he was 18 months in 2005. He is now eight years old and going to kindergarten. He is like a old man in a little boy’s body. He walks with a swagger to his step. Really tickle’s your funny bone to watch him! Hock comes from Siam Reap and was brought to Ruth by his father as his mother had left them and his father did not want him. Hock had a few issues about getting his own way at first but dealing with it correctly soon fixed this. Our Hock is a real leader and even at an early age we recognized these qualities in his life. He has been with us since early 2005. He looks after his other younger mates in our home. Whenever he gets a treat he would also asked for each of them. Whenever they have to get together he was is the one gathering them up. He is a good boy and picks up english very well. He’s a little fella for his age as most of the children are. Maybe he could be the next Prime Minister ? We are glad to have little guys like this come to LIA at such an early age!

    2009  2011                                                                                    Daniel's Story

Daniel Benjamin is another one of our little promises God has given us at LIA Cambodia. He came to us at twelve days old, not yet named and a very small helpless little bundle. So here he is, our Daniel Benjamin to show you all. His mother carreid him through her pregnancy in the knowledge she had HIV AIDS and was having treatment for it. Daniel does not carry the virus. She is another victim of the cruel virus of HIV AIDS that is sweeping through this nation like a bush fire. She is thirty-eight years old. She is alone with no one to care for her. Ruth was made aware of this situation through one of the mothers who's children we have had in our LIA family for four years. This mother assists Daniel's mum by caring for her as she becomes increasingly weak with this ugly virus. We give assistance to her through LIA's Poverty Assistance Program. This program has helped her with food, clothing and medication to ease her suffering and rent for the land where she lives in a palm leaf shack.... Daniel is now nine months old. Ruth personally bonds with and has hands on care with each newborn child when they come into our LIA nursery home based on the same premises as herself. Ruth knows this is an important part of her call and work in this nation and LIA's helping to bring in the new generation of Cambodia. Daniel's mother may not have long to live but she wanted her young baby to go to Ruth and LIA so that he could grow up to be a man of integrity and have "a future and a hope". Daniel will be given our love and care and we commit ourselves to his welfare.
