Team Involvement & Volunteers

Interested in joining a team? More info here

Children's Home
There is always something to do in the home with our many children. Our children range in age from newborn to ten years (boys & girls). LIA only keep girls through teenage yrs.                                                                                                                                                   When boys reach around the age of ten they are legally signed over to another registered NGO for young adult teenage boys. This  gives them the oversight and leadership needed to guide them through challenging teenage yrs. LIA networks with many trusted organizations within Cambodia.
The teams have hands on involvement in the day to day running of the childrens home from painting, building projects and repairs around the compound, teaching English, craft, games and training projects i.e (hygeine, self esteem & educational programs, general assistance with the children and of course having lots of fun. LIA children go to school from 8am to 3-30pm mon-friday. School hours and courses vary for some of the older girls. It depends upon the educational year level and also the school they attend.

Health, Sanitation & Hygiene Projects

Love in Action runs health, supplementation and hygiene aid programs on an intermitant basis in the area of Svay Reing. If your teams is interested in being part of these programs we can time our project plans in this area with your team stay.  (click here to for a more detailed view) The people are so poor that they cannot provide correct vitamin supplementation.  Many illnesses derive from such a lack and therefore can even result in permanent physical damage or even death.

We purchase supplements by donation in funds or donated goods and distribute where necessary. Either Ruth or another experienced person working with LIA oversee the distribution of these supplements.

Ruth with the team travels for three hours by van to our other home in a town called Svay Reing near the Vietnam border. Upon arriving we set up outdoors usually under a tree as this is the most practical way of treating the many people that have walked for hours to receive vitamins and education in the health and hygiene.
If a person needs more serious treatment we try to get them to a hospital for extra assistance. We can have up to three hundred people in one day.
The team then stays in our Svay Reing home overnight and returns back to Phnom Penh the next day.
Team members do not need any medical expertise, as Ruth is highly experienced in this area. Just being there to assist in giving out vitamins and showing health and hygiene demonstrations is helpful. We usually entertain the children while the people are waiting to be seen by our team of caring helpers. Your ability to entertain children in any way is useful in this situation.

Other Charitable Works
Ruth has rapport with other non-government organizations around the city of Phnom Penh as well as other parts of the country, so we can arrange for the team to help in these works if desired.

These include feeding programs, medical aid, training, aid work and other areas of NGO works.

There is much to do and the labourers are few !
